50th International Military History Congress

Overview
The Senegalese Commission for Military History (CSHM) has the honour of hosting the 50th International Congress of Military History, in Dakar, from 1 to 5 September 2025. The theme of the Congress is: « Rebellions and Sovereignty in the Contemporary Age (1800 to the present)».
The Scientific and Cultural Commission, in close collaboration with the congressmen, will organize presentations, workshops and panels illustrating the theme and will try to give an African specificity to this important event.
On behalf of the International Commission on Military History (CIHM), the CSHM officially invites you to register on the online form.

Rebellion can be defined as any act of dissent, insurrection, revolt, separatism, sling or uprising. It refers to violent resistance to a person who is the custodian of a public authority or who is entrusted with a public service mission, in the performance of his or her duties, for the enforcement of laws, orders of the public authority, decisions or warrants of justice. Individual or collective, organized or disorganized, passive or active, rebellion, in its forms, is as old as human societies. Indeed, violence, the common heritage of humanity, is the daily lot of human societies.
