Dakar prepares to host the 50th International Military History Congress in September 2025

The Senegalese Commission for Military History (CSHM) will have the honour of organising the 50th International Military History Congress, to be held in Dakar from 1 to 5 September 2025. This congress, under the theme « Rebellions and Sovereignty in the Contemporary Age (1800 to the present) », will bring together military historians, researchers and experts from all over the world to discuss the dynamics of resistance and sovereignty throughout the eras.

The organizing committee met today at the ED-ETHOS of Sheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) to finalize preparations for this major event. The meeting provided an overview of the programme, which will include plenary conferences, thematic workshops and visits to historical sites.

The CSHM, in collaboration with national and international institutions, is committed to making this congress a moment of reflection on the issues of rebellion and sovereignty, highlighting African specificities in these historical dynamics.
